In the course of summer to winter, this magazine offers a glimpse into the diversity of gardens through photographs, storys, lyrics and more. From colourful courtyard gardens and large house gardens to allotments and apple harvests and atmospheric images that capture the seasons.
Favourite spot
The task of this project was to create a magazine about our favourite spot. Ours are gardens and places with greenery. The photographs, taken in the seasons of summer to winter, are the main element in this magazine. Simple illustrations serve as a further design element.
Every garden has its own story
On the subject of gardens, we have spoken to various people and asked them questions. Excerpts from these interviews appear throughout the magazine, allowing the reader to share in their relationship to gardens.
Typography
We chose Playfair Display for accents and headlines. The sans serif Open Sans in various font styles serves as a balance for body text and captions.
Illustrations
An illustration is included at the beginning of each chapter. The three main chapters are introduced with a tree of the respective season. On the transparency pages at the subchapters are illustrations of the photographs that lie underneath.
Colours
The three seasons have their own colours in which the corresponding chapters are designed. Summer is yellow, autumn is red, winter is blue, and the cover and a subchapter are green. The colours are repeated in the page numbers and quotations.
